Societal transitions and transformation of work:
Intervening in organizations and on the work of managers

Nuage de mot v 24-05.png

How could Human Factors and Ergonomics better support organizations and workers, managers included, to make them actors of societal transitions?

The 14th ODAM Conference will take place from July 11 to 13, 2023, in Bordeaux, France. It is organized by the Department of Ergonomics of Complex Systems of the National Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux (Bordeaux-INP). The theme of the conference is “Societal transitions and transformation of work: Intervening in organizations and on the work of managers”.

Conference

ODAM (Organizational Design and Management) is an IEA (International Ergonomics Association) technical committee.

The city of Bordeaux

Capital of the “Nouvelle Aquitaine” region in South-West France, Bordeaux is famous worldwide as the first city of wine. Founded in the 3rd century BC, it is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage and is one of the most visited places in France. Located at 1h by plane and 2h by high-speed train from Paris, Bordeaux offers an exceptional historical and cultural environment and high-quality services in terms of food and accommodation.

ODAM 2023 is open to practitioners, researchers and students in HFE, management and business, sociology, work-industrial-organizational psychology, occupational health and safety, and industrial and systems engineering. More generally, it targets professionals and researchers interested in the impact of (current and future) societal transitions on work, health and organizations, involved in the management of organizational change, and interested in the role of managers in the operation and evolution of public and private entities.

The DESC (Department of Ergonomics of Complex Systems of Bordeaux) has been investigating HFE interventions and methods for supporting change, notably organizational change, for more than 25 years. The DESC is a well-known training center in HFE at the Master and PhD levels, with courses for engineers, managers and trade unions.

The DESC organizes the yearly “Journées de Bordeaux sur la pratique de l’ergonomie” (Bordeaux days on the practice of HFE), a three-day seminar bringing together 300 practitioners and researchers, focused on intervention methodologies.

Colleagues from Paris (Cnam) and Toulouse (University of Toulouse) are involved in the organization of ODAM 2023.

This 14th ODAM Conference is endorsed by the IEA ODAM Technical Committee, the French Speaking Ergonomics Society (SELF), the Federation of European Ergonomics Societies (FEES), the Association for the Recognition of the Title of European Ergonomist (ARTEE).
